Metro Cammell DMU DMBS 51219 of set P826, Exmouth 7-2-88. It is working with Class 108 DMS 52063 labelled P957. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.
A three-car Class 101/118 hybrid DMU running as Plymouth Laira set 826, was stood at Starcross with an Exeter St Davids to Paignton service on May 31st 1988. The outer driving cars were 51219 & 53223 with an UID Class 118 suburban centre trailer. Martyn Hilbert.

The 14:07 Barnstaple - Exmouth - worked by Class 101 set 826 with DMBS 53223 closest - is seen at Exeter St Davids on the 31st August 1988. Hamish Stevenson.
On a warm Spring evening, a three-car Class 101 DMU with Driving Motor Brake Second 51219 leading, was departing from Dawlish with an all-stations 18.23 Exeter St Davids to Paignton service on May 31st 1989. This was the period when following the banishment of almost new Class 142 Skipper units to the North, still serviceable first generation DMU sets were drafted in to the West Country to keep services running, prior to the appearance of Class 150/2 and Class 155 Sprinter units.
