Class 120 DMU at Lincoln St Marks

3rd May 1985

Lincoln St Marks station on 3 May 1985, during a day out with my old friend Mike Chinnock, just a couple of weeks before it ceased operation. It shows a class 120 with an arrival from Derby and which was about to return to the same town. Also of interest is the red GPO vehicle on the platform which were a common sight at one time but have long been consigned to history, and a red Honda C50 Scooterette, very similar to my first motor vehicle! Class 120 DMU at Ayr

1986

1986 saw a welcome return of Swindon DMUs to Ayrshire in the form of an influx of Cross Country Units. Most of the Swindon units had received Metro Cammel centre cars. Here 53651 (formerly of Derby Etches Park set 519, and appears to have a broken window mid-vehicle) and 53648 are seen at the magnificent Ayr station. Andrew McConnell.

Class 120 DMU at near Kilmarnock

7th June 1986

529 on the 1245. Class 120 motor second 53651 still displays the remains of old set number EP519 but it is now officially in set 529 with 59124 (101) and 53736. Seen passing North Woodhill farm near Kilmarnock with the 1245 Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock. Bruce Galloway.

53651 in Glasgow Central station on 25 August 1986. It's probably on a working to Ayr, and this was the last few weeks of DMUs on the service as it switched to EMUs the following month. Bill Fraser.
