Class 101 DMU at Carlisle

7th February 1957

An official image (London Midland Region publicity negative DM903) showing a four-car Met-Camm set in Carlisle Citadel station on 7 February 1957. These South Gosforth allocated DMUs had taken over the services from Newcastle a few days earlier on the 4th. Closest is DMCL E50148, the others should be TSL E59047, TBSL E59054 and DMCL E50149, all with 2+2 seating. British Railways.

Class 101 DMU at Drem

August 1977

A three-car Class 101 DMU at Drem in August 1977. Leading is Dundee-allocated SC50148, a recent transfer from South Gosforth. Alistair Ness.

Class 101 DMU at Haymarket

9th March 1981

Set number: 101323

March 9th, 1981, and a Met Camm set 101323 leaves Haymarket with the 14:25 Edinburgh to Dundee, presumably with 50148 at the front. Bruce Galloway.

Class 101 DMU at Largs

9th October 1982

Set number: 101323

Class 101 & 126 Largs 9 Oct 1982. The Met-Camm is set 101323, presumably 50148 closest. The Class 126, Sc51036 in view, was on the 'Ayrshire Wanderer' railtour. This tour was organised by the Swindon Preservation Society and used the same name as the previous year's BLS tour doing exactly what it said on the headboard. The class also remained in service for a bit longer than planned after the tour which had meant to see them being withdrawn from service the following day. Here we see the train at Largs. Alistair Ness.

Class 101 DMU at Newton on Ayr

circa June 1986

Set number: 101323

The driver of 53148 contacts the signal box for instructions at Newton on Ayr station, circa June 1986. Andrew McConnell.

Class 101 DMU at Saltcoats
