Withdrawn 59303 at Blackpool North on Thursday 2 September 2004. It, and 59539 to the left, had been stored there for several years, and they were due to move that day to their new homes in preservation that. Long out-of-ticket, they had had the axles ultrasonically tested and a Fragonset Class 31 was hired to move them to a nearby 'depot' with a loading point.

Unfortunately it was found that there is a tight corner on the way into the depot, with bollards on the pavement which prevented the Allely's lorry from turning. The move was aborted.

The council agreed to remove the bollards, and the move was rescheduled for a later date.
