A pair of Longsight allocated Class 101's 101681 (51228 & 51506) & 101690 (51435 & 53177), had just left the WCML at nearby Farington Junction and were running along the 'Back Line' at Ward Street Lostock Hall, heading for the East Lancashire route at Lostock Hall Junction with the Sunday Only 08.35 Manchester Piccadilly to Carlisle 'Dalesrail' service on September 19th 1993.

I think the Dalesrail only ran along here for this one season. They subsequently went on to Preston and reversed.
