In bottom gear and down to walking pace, a three-car Swindon Class 120 Cross-Country DMU formed of cars W50679, W59291 & W50727 was grinding its way to the summit of the Lickey Incline at Blackwell with a Worcester to Birmingham New Street service on September 5th 1981. These were stylish DMUs with a good internal layout and seats, and window curtains in the second class saloons. Martyn Hilbert.
Complete with its first class saloon, Swindon Class 120 Driving Motor Brake Composite (DMBC) W51578 was leading a Worcester to Birmingham New Street service at Blackwell, grinding its way up the last few yards of the Lickey Incline at almost walking pace on September 5th 1981. Martyn Hilbert.

Travelling towards Buxton on the freight only on the very sharp curve at Blackwell Mills on 30th August 1986, we're travelling on the RCTS railtour "Mancunian Railtour" which was made up of 2 Metro-Cammell 2 car dmu's, the front unit being E53171 and E51222, the rear set 78720 + 78970.
