Derby lightweight DMU E79252 at Halesworth on the East Suffolk Line. A good view of the end of the adjacent power car. Note that the rectangular exhaust pipe does not meet the pipe on the other side above the gangway as many did. Phil Bevan.

27th November 1970

On a rather dull autumn Saturday (27 November 1970), a 3-car dmu (Class 104 DMSL E50564 leading with a Class 104 TBLS and a Class 111 DMCL) leaves the turnback siding just north of Tottenham Hale station to form the 12.26 to North Woolwich via Stratford (Low Level). There still seems to be some activity in the goods yard on the left, where a coal wagon has been emptied. Tom Burnham.

This slide, taken at Halesworth on 17 April 1974 noted the train as the 12:48 Liverpool St - Lowestoft. At the front is a 105 DMBS/101 DTCL hybrid, closest is Class 105 DMBS E50382 - note how the top cream lining from the green livery has not been sanded flat and is the blue paint has flaked off it in several places. 3rd June 1985

Having completed its 11 minute 5 mile journey from Stratford with one intermediate stop at Lea Bridge 2H09 the 16.00 ex Stratford is seen at Tottenham Hale 03/06/85 where it will stand in the down platform before returning back south to Stratford as service 2H14 at 16.26. The origins of this short service go back to the days when the train would have turned left at Tottenham South Junction to call at South Tottenham before taking the now closed Palace Gates branch which lost its passenger service in December 1964.
