11th July 1965 and the DMU on the Plymouth Railway Circle trip to Swanage and back has had enough at Newton Abbot on the return trip. Hymek D7011 is being added to get everyone home. It appears to be a Swindon Cross-Country DMU. The KDH Archive.

A very unusual combination of a driving motor second from a BR (Derby) 3-car Suburban dmu (later Class 116/1) No.W50901 (116/1), a Pressed Steel Suburban railcar (later Class 121) No.W55026, and a 3-car dmu composed of Derby driving motor second Class 116/1 No.W51141, an unknown suburban TCL, and a Derby Class 116/2 driving motor brake second No.W51128, all in BR green with small yellow warning panel, at Newton Abbot, 08/66. 10th April 1971

Gloucester class 128 motor parcels van No.M55989 is seen at Newton Heath depot on 10th April 1971, with its 'buffalo horns' prominent. Ten motor luggage vans of class 128 were delivered from the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. in early 1960 for use on the London Midland and Western Regions. The London Midland examples did not have end gangways fitted. Powered by two 230hp engines per vehicle, they were able to accommodate a trailing load when required. Class 108 DMC M52062 is on the left and a 'Blackpool stripe' 104 on the right. Gordon Edgar.

Cravens class 129 motor parcels van No.M55997 is seen at Newton Heath depot on 10th April 1971, with the new diesel depot under construction behind. This MPV operated with the Derby Lightweight units on the Maryport and Carlisle Line for many years before reallocation to Chester. M55997 was the first of the three 150hp AEC-engined parcels vans in this class and were built by Cravens in 1958. They ended their working days working from Chester and were withdrawn 1972/73. This unit eventually went to the Railway Technical Centre at Derby as RDB975385 'Laboratory Coach 9' named 'Hydra'. Gordon Edgar.
