The now preserved Sc51017 heading Class 126 Swindon Intercity DMU set 126406 at Kilmacolm on the last weeks in service for both the Swindon and the Branch itself. The guard is carrying the oil tail lamp to the far end of the unit. Experienced Swindon DMU guards would often be seen casually stepping out of the van at a convenient point on the platform of terminus stations to wait for the end of the set to draw to a gentle halt right alongside.
