According to my scant notes from this day in 1976 (March 12th), I took a TP photo of DMU C320 (presumably 50869 + 59035 + 50922) at Cardiff Central (looking east). Though the details are lacking, It's a captured moment, despite the grainy Kodak plus-X film and my shoddy development of it! Arnie Furniss.
1976 was famous for the amazing Summer but March was a bit grim as seen on the 12th at Cardiff. L711 is arriving (presumably 52091 at the front), in the set was 59823 and completed the set for me! Remember when they kept dmu's together? The loco, by deduction, is probably 47504. It doesn't really matter at this distance in time. It's Cardiff and it's 42 years ago! Arnie Furniss.
Two Class 116 DMUs at Cardiff Central with what is thought to be the 10:42 (SO) Rhymney-Penarth service on 5 June 1976. Closest is refurbished C311, presumably 50895 + 59350 + 50842. Robert Thomas.
Freshly painted W50843 in Cardiff Central with a Valleys service on 18 September 1976. It has a refurbished date of 27 August but its centre car 59355 was not completed till 10 September which is probably why it still looks so fresh. Robert Thomas.
Class 118 DMU set B469 with 51311 closest at Cardiff, date unknown. Paul Redmond.
C712 is one of many Class 123 sets seen at CF on the 12th February 1977. 52097 is nearest the camera. Jerry Glover.
A Class 120 Swindon-Cross Country DMU arrives into Cardiff Central from West Wales 26/2/77. At the front of set C502 is DMS(L) W50653, the orange curtains fitted throughout second class can be clearly seen. Stephen Burdett.

'C453 at Cardiff, August 1974'. However this is too early to contain a refurbished liveried set. C453 (51348 + 59340 + 51390) moved to Cardiff in April 1976 and was refurbished in July 1977. Is C453 the blue or the refurbished set in the image? Steve Davies Collection.
Two refurbished Class 116 DMUs seen at Cardiff, date unknown. Closest is set C306 - 50133 and presumably 59041 + 53091. Paul Redmond.
Refurbished Class 116 DMU set C334 (W51152 and presumably 59033 and 51139) seen at Cardiff, date unknown. Paul Redmond.
Examples of products from BR's Derby and Swindon workshops at Cardiff Canton depot circa late 1978. W50863 has an interesting set number, it had been transferred to TS in mid-78 and the T possibly replaced a C. At the time Tyseley set numbers used a TY prefix and were carried in the cab windows, it would be several years until this style became common at the depot. Also, 50863 was not a regular member of C313, but seems to have been spare before the more. The 120 has orange curtains, so this should be DMBC 51581. John Law.
