The class 124 'Trans-Pennine' DMUs worked from Hull from their initial introduction in 1959 to their enventual demise in the mid-80s. By 1984 they were operating in 4-car 'hybrid' sets along with former WR class 123 units. Here DMC E51958 rests at Hull Paragon's buffer stops on 28/04/1984. 53A Models of Hull Collection.
Swindon-built "Inter City" set with E52102 nearest the camera has just arrived at Hull Paragon with a train from Manchester on 30th April 1984. In the background, Trans-Pennine DMU E51958 is at the front of another service over the "Backbone of England". This was the last photo I took of these rather wonderful units, as within a few days of this they were all withdrawn from service. Syd Young.
Class 118 BRCW 3-car DMU 51313 + 59478 + 51328 (set P470) at Par with the 9:39 to Newquay, 10-7-84. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.
Seen shortly after arriving at the junction at Par with the 0806 from Newquay is Plymouth Laira based class 118 3 car unit P470 (presumably 51313 + 59478 + 51328). This service connected with the 0827 Penzance to Paddington IC125 service with the unit returning to the north Cornwall coast at 0939. Bruce Galloway.

Cravens set 30 (presumably 54125 and 53373) with the 11:54 Harwich Town - Manningtree is seen beside 31 424 as it arrived at Harwich Parkeston Quay (at 12XX) on Monday 18th March 1985. Colin Brooks.

A DMU passes the level crossing at Stow Park, on the Lincoln-Gainsborough route, in the summer of 1986. There was a station at this location, closed in the early 1960s. The box, on the left here, is a Great Northern design of 1877, with 32 levers. Andrew Walker.
