51257 is part of set 64 at Spalding on 19/4/77. The Class 105 set is attached to a 3-car set of a different class, which is mostly off the platform. There is also a 3-car high density set in the sidings. Ian Francis.
A Cravens 2-car DMU arrives at Bedford St Johns station, working in from Bletchley on 21 April 1977. The LNWR signal box was damaged by fire later in the year and was subsequently rebuilt using the top of a Midland Region type 15 design. The crew change ends at Spalding, they will depart with the 13:05 service to Peterborough, 23 July 1977. So what has happened around the destination blind on E56448? My guess is that it was leaking and an attempt was made to seal it with a water based sealant, which was then out in the rain at speed before it had properly set.
