51988

107 DMU

12th May 1984

Set: 107428

On Depot. Derby DMSL Sc51988 at west end of Corkerhill Depot. 107 428 looks very trim and it was supposedly involved in the station re-openings in Ayshire (Kilmaurs or Auchinleck) earlier that day. A Type 3 is visible in the background along with some nascent electrification steelwork. The tracks to the far right were the remnants of the Canal line which still saw aviation fuel traffic to Hawkhead. Saturday 12 May 1984. alicia hartman.

107 DMU

circa 1987

Set: 107428

107 428 (51988) and 107 425 in Glasgow Central circa 1987. The station had recently been stone-cleaned and enhanced with the addition of evergreen bushes on the platforms, conveniently marking the position of "Front train beyond this point". Andrew McConnell.

107 DMU

6th June 1989

Set: 107728

Set 107728 (presumably 51988 + 59786 + 52013) after terminating in North Berwick station with the 17:38 from Edinburgh on June 6, 1989. The banner proclaims 'ScotRail Sprinter Service starts Mon. 15th May". Hamish Stevenson.

107 DMU

22nd August 1989

Set: 107728

107728 (presumably 51988 + 59786 + 52013) departing Kilmarnock with the 12:54 to Glasgow Central, 22-08-89. Classic d.m.u. traction for the Killie - Glasgow service, not long before the Sprinters took over. The line from here to Barrhead (with a loop at Lugton) was stupidly singled in 1974. It was re-doubled between Stewarton and Lugton in 2008 / 09 and now a half hourly service to operates from Kilmarnock to Glasgow. The former line to Dalry passed under the bridge on the left. Gordon Thomson.

Set: 107429

107 DMU

17th June 1983

Set: 107429

107429 (51989 presumably leading) and another (with a Met-Camm vehicle on the rear) passes Lochside with the 17:25 Glasgow Central to Stranraer service on Friday 17th June 1983. My visit that day took some planning. Only five northbound and six southbound trains stopped there in each direction, the traffic being heavily biased towards Glasgow commuters. The last of the first four northbound trains departed at 10:21 leaving only one further departure at 13:21. In the southbound direction the first train to call was not until 16:00 in the afternoon. This was followed by three further trains taking us up to 18:25 and two more at 21:00 and 23:00 respectively. Fortunately, there were plenty of non-stop trains whizzing through for me to photograph. On 13th May 1985, Lochside reverted to its original name of Lochwinnoch. Since electrification things have improved dramatically and Lochwinnoch now has a basic half hourly service all day with additional trains during the peak hours. Brian McDevitt.

August 1987

Set: 107429

Class 107 (set 429, presumably 51989 + 59795 + 52023) Dunfermline August 1987. By this time it was a case of "anything goes". This class was never common on Fife Circle workings and definitely not in SPT orange livery but by then the corporate identity manual had more or less been abandoned. Alistair Ness.

107 DMU

August 1987

Set: 107429

Dunfermline Derby. A Strathclyde "jaffa cake" liveried Derby class 107 set 107429 (presumably 51989 + 59795 + 52023) stops to drop off some passengers at Dunfermline (Lower) in August 1987. Murray Liston.

1988

Three Class 107 DMUs on Corkerhill depot circa Spring 1988. On the left is set 107429, with two wipers the car in view should be 51989 as the other power car only had one at this time. In the centre is 107445 with DMBS 52006 closest which unusually has a flash in the centre cab window. Brian Ward.

107 DMU

March 1988
