21st May 1988

Southport station on 21 May 1988. A pair of 2-car Class 108 dmus departs towards Wigan Wallgate and Manchester. I had been working in Southport this week, and decided to take a few photos before catching my train home. First I walked to"Steamport", the railway museum housed in the old steam depot. The route to Steamport involved crossing a long footbridge, where this photo was taken from. Lewis Bevan.

I went to the S & C on 24 August 1988 to photograph steam locomotive 34092 City of Wells,and had the chance to have some shots of service trains. This one shows a pair of DMUs - Class 101 (probably 51215 + 53162) on the left and a Class 108 - crossing Long Marton Viaduct. Peter Tandy.

New Year Eve 1988 sees a NSE class 108 DMU arriving at Ridgmont from Bedford. The Bedford Arms pub in the background, complete with a collection of car hub caps (!), closed in the mid-1990s and was later demolished. The station is actually in Husborne Crawley.
