Class 121 diesel railcar W55020 is seen at Bourne End on 17 February 1979 working the Maidenhead to Marlow service. Before May 1970, the line used to continue beyond the station to High Wycombe, but now the station is used for reversal of trains bound for Marlow with only a short length of platform available to clear the junction pointwork, so there is little chance of electrifying the line with existing rolling stock. The "Marlow Donkey" service to Maidenhead has recently arrived at the Buckinghamshire terminus, amid signs of recent snow. This was 17 February 1979. The railcar was built by Pressed Steel in 1960 for the London Area of the Western Region. After a ten-year period in departmental service this vehicle was put back into passenger service by Chiltern Railways in 2002. It was used on Aylesbury to Princes Risborough services until 2017.
