282.  BIRMINGHAM - SUTTON COLDFIELD - LICHFIELD LINE.

Noted that approval has now been given by the B.T.C. Works & Equipment Committee for this scheme (see minute 270 (6)).

283.  BIRMINGHAM - CASTLE BROMWICH SCHEME. (BRITISH INDUSTRIES FAIR).

Noted that the Eastern Region have agreed to the loan of three 2-car units from 18th April to the 13th May. All concerned have been asked to make arrangements and the necessary publicity is in hand.

Mr.Tonge stated that the meeting of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce which was to be held on the 24th February had been deferred to the 15th March.

284.  NORTH WALES SCHEME.

Noted that approval has now been given by the B.T.C. Works & Equipment Committee for this scheme (see minute 270 (6)).

285.  CAMBRIDGE SCHEME.  (L.M. & E.R.)

Noted that the Eastern Region did not see much prospect of being able to provide a unit for the early morning service from Kettering to Cambridge and have indicated that they are keeping the matter in mind in assessing their future requirements of diesel units.

286.  NOTTINGHAM AREA SCHEME.  (E.R.)

Noted that a meeting with the Eastern Region will be held shortly. Also noted that this Nottingham area scheme is seperate from the L.M.R. Derby, Nottingham and Leicester scheme, except so far as co-ordination on maintenance etc. is concerned.

287.  FUTURE SCHEMES.

(a) The Chairman requested that the forecast of the number of units likely to be required for future schemes be given as a matter of urgency.
