4. Allocation of units being built at Derby and by contractors

Revised schedule of allocation attached as Appendix "A".

5. Rail cars for rural areas

(a) Design of single car.  Noted that B.T.C. have been advised that arrangements have been made for Derby Carriage & Wagon Works to construct a single car. Agreed that a second car is necessary for use as a spare and that Derby Works proceed with the building of this car.

Mr.Gould said that, on further consideration, it was felt that a larger luggage compartment is necessary in the single car. Mr.Stanley said that as the first car would be completed by June 4th it was not possible now to make any major alteration and it was agreed that the second car to be used as a spare be constructed with the standard 16 ft. guard's van and an experiment be conducted with the two sizes of van.

(b) Buckingham - Banbury Line.  The Chairman said the General Manager had raised the question of the experiment with a single car being constructed on a branch without freight traffic, but as this has not been found possible, he has agreed to the Buckingham - Banbury line being used. The estimated financial results of this scheme were noted as follows :-
