605.  SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.   (Contd.)

(2) Birmingham Part 2.

Diesel service in steam timings introduced on June 9th, 1958.  Mr.Nicholls circulted copies of financial assessment covering both the Birmingham Part 1 and Part 2 schemes.  The full report was baing circulated to all departments concerned and the Chairman asked for this to be signed this week in order that it could go before the Area Board on September 3rd.

(3) North Wales Part 3 (Wrexham, Chester and New Brighton)

Noted that question of possible closing of Chester (Northgate) station still being considered.

606.  ORDER OF PRIORITY FOR FUTURE SCHEMES

Consideration was given to the list of proposed future diesel multiple unit services, and the Chairman said it was desirable tht order of priority should be established for these, bearing in mind the desirability of introducing schemes which would show an increase in net revenue, and also the desirability of showing the flag of modernisation.

It was agreed that the departments concerned would consider and submit a priority list for consideration at the next meeting.

The Chairman stated that a letter had been received from the Chief Traffic Officer of the Commission to the effect that there are still quite a number of proposals to be submitted in connection with the allocation of multiple unit diesel vehicles from the bulk authorities approved by the Commission for building purposes and the position had now been reached that, in some cases, vehicles were being delivered but the schemes for which they are intended had not been submitted for approval by the Commission, and asking for special attention to be given to the matter, particularly in case of schemes for which the vehicles had been, or were being, delivered.

607.  SCHEMES ALREADY IN OPERATION

(1) Watford - St.Albans
Harrow - Belmont

Mr.Butland suggested that the A.C.V. units allocated to these branches might be usefully employed as service vehicles for the use of the Civil Engineer's department, and he would submit a recommendation on this proposal.
