(b) Improvements to running facilities between Harpenden and Bedford - Proceeding satisfactorily and would be completed by September, 1959.

(c) Cricklewood Maintenance Depot - See Minute No.632.

(d) Closings of stations - Noted that the case for the closing of Ampthill station was awaiting consideration by T.U.C.C. and the case for the closing of Napsbury station was in course of preparation.

635.  SCHEMES SUBMITTED TO B.T.C. BUT NOT YET APPROVED

Birmingham Part 2 scheme

Full diesel service covering the Greater Birmingham area introduced on November 17th, 1958.  Scheme approved by Area Board on October 15th and now awaiting Commission approval.

Scheme in respect of maintenance facilities at Ryecroft approved by Area Board on December 4th and now awaiting approval by Works & Equipment Committee.

636.  SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.

(1)  Marylebone Suburban Services

(a) Submission of scheme - Full scheme to be submitted to Commission early in January, 1959.  Proceeding satisfactorily.

(b) Production of vehicles - To commence in January, 1960, following vehicles for St.Pancras scheme.

(c) Power Equipment - Basic principles for future design of cooling system now agreed and order being placed with British United Traction Ltd.

(d) Seating arrangements - Question of provision of first class accomodation not yet resolved but was under urgent enquiry.  Copies of drawing DE.11289 showing proposed seating arrangements circulated to members of Committee for decision when question of first class seating was cleared.
