655.  SCHEMES AUTHORISED BUT NOT YET IN OPERATION

(1)  Manchester Part 2 (S.E.Lancs.) Scheme

First part of scheme introduced on June 9th, 1958.  Remainder of scheme would be brought into operation on June 15th, 1959.

(2)  Liverpool Lime Street - St.Helens - Wigan Scheme

Scheme partially brought into operation on January 5th, 1959.  Anticipated remainder of scheme would be brought into operation in September, 1959.

(3)  St.Pancras Suburban Scheme

(a) Rolling Stock - Delivery between April and December, 1959.  Part of scheme would be introduced in September, 1959 and complete scheme in January, 1960.

(b) Improvements to running facilities between Harpenden and Bedford - Proceeding to programme and would be complete by September, 1959.

(c) Cricklewood Maintenance Depot - Preparation of submission proceeding satisfactorily.

(d) Lengthening of platforms - Mr.Lambert stated he had not yet been advised of what may be required in this connection but if more work was required to be done in addition to what was already been agreed it was doubtful if it could be covered before the introduction of the scheme.

Mr.Gould would ascertain what is required and advise the Chairman.

(e) Closing of stations - Noted that Ampthill Station would be closed on April 6th, 1959 and the case for the closing of Napsbury would be considered by the T.U.C.C. on March 12th, 1959.

(4)  Bletchley - Oxford - Cambridge

Noted scheme approved by Area Board on February 4th and now awaiting Commission approval.

656.  SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.

(1)  Marylebone Suburban Service

(a) Submission of scheme - Mr.Gould reported that the submission was now with the Derby Costs Office, after which it would be sent to the Accountant for final financial assessment.
