BMU

British Railways experimented with a 2-car battery set on the Deeside line.

Using Derby Lightweight bodies, conversion at Cowlairs works added a battery and traction motors and it was used on the Aberdeen to Ballater route from 1958.

After four years they were withdrawal they were taken on by the RTC at Derby for use in automatic train operation tests. They are now preserved.
