Diagrams

These ER sets would have one DMCL from diagram 559 and one from diagram 580 (the difference being one had a smoking first class section, the other was non-smoking), a TSL from diagram 583 and TBSL from diagram 584:

Design Codes

These replaced Diagrams in 1980. DMCLs - DP 306 (DP 218 as DMSL) and DP 307 (DP 217 as DMSL), TSL - DT 203, TBSL - DU 204:

Underframe items on the number two side of a power car. Upper left is a Smiths heater, beneath is a vacuum reservoir and the electrical box to its right is the heater relay/control box (meaning the heating controls were of the through train type). The lighter coloured box on the right contains the relays that operate the throttle motors, gearboxes and final drive.
