A Class 148 at Sheffield Midland in the late 1960s. Later known as a Class 114 DTC(L), this vehicle was classified as Class 148 at the time this slide was taken - believed to be late 1960s due to the presence of green liveried vehicles. Unusually, it lacks the yellow line above the first class accommodation, although window stickers are visible - it is unlikely to have been declassified by this early stage. Class 101 no. 53242, recently transferred from Eastfield and still displaying set number 101364, is seen at Sheffield on a gloomy afternoon temporarily paired with class 110 DMBS no. 52066. 53242 would shortly go on to Tyseley depot and become part of set T032 paired with class 116 DMBS no. 53090 and later DMBS no. 53844.
