The 1981 BLS Scottish Tour was the Ayrshire Wanderer which ran in two parts. The Saturday tour (on 29 August) started and finished at Glasgow Central and here we are reflecting on the tour at the last stop of the day at Stevenston. Alistair Ness.

A class 107 d.m.u. formimg a Glasgow to Ardrossan Harbour or Largs train passes Stevenston No. 1 signal box in the immediate pre-electrification period - July 1985. This was an LMS built signal box, opened in June 1947, closed by British Rail in September 1986 upon completion of the Ayrshire electrification project.
