The 15.40 ex-Peterborough DMU is arriving at Leicester to form the 17.22 to Birmingham New Street on 25 August 1977. The set number reads TS515, so the DMBS leading is presumably M50050. Kevin Lane.

Largs station on 27 August 1977 contains a Class 116 (right - set 162, SC50899) and a Class 107 (left, set 146, SC52000). Tom Burnham.

A class 116 dmu (set TS540, presumably 50832 + 59029 + 50885) has just left Nuneaton Trent Valley station and approaches the site of Nuneaton Abbey Street station (closed 1968) 28/8/1977 with a Leicester to Birmingham New Street service. The end cottage on the left bears evidence that the occupants were supporters of the notorious career criminal George Davis who was wrongly imprisoned for an offence but ended up committing numerous crimes! A Southminster to Wickford DMU passes the G.E.R. goods shed at Battlesbridge 25/10/77. The goods shed lasted into the 80s and was demolished in connection with the electrification of the line. Sparegang.

Derby class 116 Suburban car SC50874 was withdrawn following a sidelong collision with a Class 303. It is seen at Hamilton Depot following stripping of reusable parts on 26th November 1977. On the left is a partly cut-up Mark 1 coach and a Class 116 centre car. John Horne Collection.

Tyseley Class 116 set TS555 heading away from Wilmecote station displaying Burton on Trent on the destination blind in 1978. The DMBS 50826 was a recent transfer from Hamilton and has the vehicle number prefix painted over, and there are signs of the former set number under the driver's window. Michael Mensing.
