107 DMU

Last Days. Westbound DMU rolls into Crookston station on a Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm working. After closure, the footbridge was supposedly dismantled and re-erected at Auchinleck for the station re-opening in May 1984. Maybe not so unlucky for OB 13 after all! The station building was vandalised post closure but was eventually restored as a private dwelling. The former westbound platform at Crookston re-opened in 1990 as part of a truncated service to Paisley Canal. The line was effectively a single track from Dumbreck. However, a passing loop was added at Crookston on the Glasgow side of the Crookston Road over bridge in the background. The line was eventually electrified in 2012. Probably Friday 07 January 1983. alicia hartman.

Taken on 08/12/04 at Wilmcote whilst 960014 (977873, ex-55022) was used on route learning duties for Driver and Guard training of Chiltern Railways staff on the Stratford-upon-Avon route, previously operated by Thames Trains. The transfer of services to Chiltern Railways commenced on 12/12/04, a few days after these photos were taken, with the route learning duties being shared with 960021 (usually used for Sandite duties). The lesser seen Aylesbury Depot depot stickers are in evidence under the vehicle number. Image by John Wills. Greg Scott Collection.

105 DMU

One of the first batch of Cravens DMUs seen at Leeds City in August 1966. Note how the two bulbs (both white) can be clearly seen in each of the four marker lamps, later on the glass covering the lamps would be frosted. The yellow panel covers the waist level lining, on some vehicles it stopped before the lining. David Faircloth.

108 DMU

On 8 August 1982 three extraordinary trains ran from Skipton to Embsay on the Yorkshire Dales Railway. This was possible because the main line track was slewed to connect on this day. The stock used comprised Derby-built class 108 DMU cars 50599 and 50635, both new in 1958. The headboard (and the ticket) named the trips as "Yorkham's Flying Banger", they were sponsored by Yorkham's of Blubberhouses in connection with a "real food" festival at Embsay. Jeremy Chapter.

On 11 August 1984 a London Paddington to Reading service leaves Slough formed of a couple of Pressed Steel class 121 single "bubble cars" and one matching trailer plus a three-car class 117. It would be impossible to take a satisfactory picture here in 2020 owing to all the electrification paraphernalia. Jeremy Chapter.
