The DMBS 50826 was a recent transfer from Hamilton and has the vehicle number prefix painted over, and there are signs of the former set number under the driver's window. Michael Mensing.

 DMU

31st January 1981

Set: TS053

A Leamington Spa to Stratford upon Avon service leaves Wilmcote worked by a class 122 single car on 31/1/81. It's set TS053, presumably 55009. Stephen Burdett.

 DMU

Despite the destination blind reading Stratford upon Avon this rake of class 116 coaches was bound for Birmingham Moor Street when photographed on 16 July 1981 at Wilmcote station, Jeremy Chapter.

 DMU

8th June 1986

Set: TS632

A Class 118 dmu set passes Wilmcote on 8 June 1986. I was waiting for "Jubilee" 4-6-0 no 5593, and I think most of the others on the platform were waiting to see the same train. It is Tyseley set TS632, presumably 51323 + 59475 + 51308. Lewis Bevan.

 DMU

19th January 1987

Set: TS083

Tyseley based Pressed Steel Class 121 single-car DMU 55033 (TS083) calls at Wilmcote with a lunchtime Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon service on 19 January 1987. Chris Morrison.

 DMU

7th September 1987

Set: TS252

Two 2-car units head up Wilmcote Bank on the afternoon of 7 September 1987 on their way to Birmingham Moor Street from Stratford-upon-Avon. Closest is Class 121 DTS 54284, presumably partnered with 53052 as set TS252. The road in the background is the A46 under construction at this time and the new overbridge visible over the unit's front cab, now right by Stratford Parkway station, was nearing completion. Peter Tandy.

 DMU

7th September 1987

Set: T211

On the afternoon of 7 September 1987 two of Tyseley's two-car Class 108 sets led by T211 (54277 and presumably 53943) were photographed climbing the 1/75 of Wilmcote Bank a short distance from Stratford-upon-Avon. The leading DTS was possibly unique at the time as it still had operational headcode blinds although I'm not sure what the code carried on this run represented. Later, on the run to Stratford from Leamington Spa it had changed to display the set number. These shots were a bonus as I was in this spot for a picture of 47628 with the VSOE on its way from Stratford to London Victoria. Peter Tandy.

Set: T211

Two Class 108s working to Stratford-upon-Avon from Leamington Spa at Wilmcote Bank on 7 September 1987. Closest is set T211 (54277 and presumably 53943) with the DTS displaying the set number on its still working headcode. Peter Tandy.

 DMU

19th June 1988

Set: T312

Class 117 T312 Class 117 DMU T312 (51338 + 59504 + 51380) was working a Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford-upon-Avon service on 19 June 1988 when I photographed it shortly after leaving Wilmcote station. This set wasn't at Tyseley for much longer after this date because class 150 Sprinters were beginning to appear in the West Midlands and "proper" DMUs were starting to be transferred elsewhere for their final year or two. Peter Tandy.

 DMU

28th April 1990

Set: T021

Wilmcote Bank, the 1/73 northbound climb out of Stratford-upon-Avon is the location for this shot of class 114 formed of set T021 (presumably 53021 + 54012) on 28 April 1990. It is on the 17.XX from Stratford-upon-Avon to Leamington Spa and one of the lineside gasholders near Stratford station station is clearly visible in the picture which I took from a convenient farm crossing. Peter Tandy.

 DMU

1991

Set: T025

Set T025, formed of DMBS 53005 and DTCL 54039 at Wilmcote. No exact date, but probably 1990-91 James Bradley.

 DMU

24th March 1993

Set: L233

Two Network South-East class 108 units operated a farewell to class 108 railtour from Bletchley to Stratford-upon-Avon on 24 March 1993. The train was led by L233 (presumably 51942 + 54194) and was photographed on the outward journey passing Wilmcote station. Peter Tandy.

 DMU

11th November 2004

Set: 960014

During the layover of 960014 at Stratford-upon-Avon on 11 November 2004 I took the opportunity to drive to Wilmcote station for another shot as it went north to Hatton on its route learning run. Here it is passing under the GWR footbridge, albeit in an odd shade of muddy pink. Peter Tandy.

 DMU

11th November 2004

Set: 960014

It doesn't take long for a train to travel from Wilmcote to Hatton, reverse, and then return. Despite the gloomy weather I must have thought int worthwhile on 11 November 2004 to hang on for 960014 to return for its second visit of the day to Stratford-upon-Avon. Peter Tandy.

 DMU

8th December 2004

Set: 960014

Taken on 08/12/04 at Wilmcote whilst 960014 (977873, ex-55022) was used on route learning duties for Driver and Guard training of Chiltern Railways staff on the Stratford-upon-Avon route, previously operated by Thames Trains. The transfer of services to Chiltern Railways commenced on 12/12/04, a few days after these photos were taken, with the route learning duties being shared with 960021 (usually used for Sandite duties). 960014 and 960013 were both transferred from Derby to Aylesbury in 2002 and subsequently exchanged with 121027 and 121031, enabling 960014 to be fully refurbished and prepared in advance of the route learning.
