Class 122 55011 seen in Ayr station on a service from Kilmarnock, circa 1969. Stuart Rankin.
W79976 was built by AC Cars in 1958 and delivered to the Western Region for staff training in August of that year. Alongside classmates W79975, W79977 and W79978, it was put to work on the Kemble-Cirencester Town and Kemble-Tetbury branch lines from February 1959 until closure in April 1964. W79976 and W79975 were used on services between Yeovil Town and Yeovil Junction starting from December 1964. When Yeovil Town closed in October 1966 the services continued through to Yeovil Pen Mill but the railbuses soon found themselves displaced by larger DMUs. As with the other AC Cars railbuses, W79976 was transferred to Scotland in January 1967 and operated around Ayr, chiefly on the branch line to Kilmarnock. However it did not last long in service and in January 1968 it was officially withdrawn. This Agfachrome transparency I took at Ayr TMD on 10th August 1969. Following withdrawal from BR and storage at Ayr TMD it entered preservation. Gordon Edgar.

Refurbished late in 1976, DMBS 51470 is stabled on Ayr MPD as part of a 3 car unit. In regular service conditions the white and blue livery, which denoted refurbished units at the time, was found difficult to keep clean so units concerned were repainted into blue and grey livery and the stylised GG 'Greater Glasgow' emblem did not last very long either. 51470 was withdrawn in April 1988 and scrapped by MC Metals in Glasgow during October 1989. Bob Woolnough.
In BR blue livery Class 126 DMSL SC51025 is stabled on Ayr MPD on the 2nd May 1978. Delivered in October 1959 Ayr would be the only depot she was ever allocated to being withdrawn from there in August 1982 and scrapped by Mayer Newman Scrapyard, Snailwell, Cambridgeshire during November 1983. Bob Woolnough.
Class 126 DMBSL SC51031 from Set 401 is stabled on Ayr MPD on the 2nd May 1978. Other than the rail blue livery the vehicle is as it was delivered to BR in May 1959. Unfortunately this would not last long as less than a year later SC51031 was involved in a tragic accident upon leaving Paisley Gilmour Street Station on the 16th April 1979 when it was involved in a head on collision with a Class 303 unit and SC51031 was cut up on site. Bob Woolnough.
