Although the unit number was not recorded by the original photographer, the date, location and accident damage to the front end would suggest this to be SC79968, stored at Ayr depot during Easter weekend 1966. Phil Griffin.

This was an official British Railways image that was also issued as a postcard. Taken at Glen Douglas (nowadays a passing place between Garelochhead and Arrochar & Tarbet stations) it is almost certainly Sc79969 when it was introduced to the Craigendoran - Arrochar & Tarbet service in November 1959.
