On 14 February 1981, David Isherwood organised "The Rossendale Farewell" rail tour from Manchester to commemorate the ending of all services from Bury to Rawtenstall. Bury Bolton Street had been the terminus of 3rd rail services from Manchester, but had transferred to Bury Interchange the previous year. The six-car rail tour had class 105 Cravens car M50794 at this end, seen in Bury Bolton Street. Jeremy Chapter.

On a overcast Spring Sunday afternoon in the market town of Sudbury in Suffolk, the run-down looking station was seeing some activity with the arrival of a Cravens Class 105 Two-Car DMU formed of cars E51255 & E56130 with the branch service along the Stour Valley route from Marks Tey on the Great Eastern main line from Liverpool St to Norwich on March 29th 1981. Since 1967 Sudbury has been the end-of-the-line, the station once being on a through route to Shelford and Cambridge. Martyn Hilbert.

A Cravens two-car Class 105 DMU formed of cars E56130 & E51255 was stood at a forlorn looking Sudbury, awaiting the 11 mile return trip to Marks Tey situated the Great Eastern main line on an overcast Sunday 5th April 1981. The rusty rails in the foreground lead to the stop block at the end of the branch. Until 1967, Sudbury was a through station on a cross-country route to Cambridge. Martyn Hilbert.
