108 DMU

E54205 Class 108 DMU visitor inside Old Oak Common carriage shed. An Eastern region Class 108 2-car DMU seen in the old carriage sheds at Old Oak Common. As it still had its Eastern Region prefix, and Class 108s never worked on Paddington locals, I'm not sure why it ended up here. Note the route destination blind still reading Knaresborough! Chris McKee.

101 DMU

One of the Class 101 Metro-Cammell sets that usurped the Pressed Steel monopoly on the Paddington local services in the 1980s. The unit (set L201, presumably 54070 + 51212) is seen outside the old carriage sheds at Old Oak Common, alongside one of the local Class 121 Pressed Steel 'Bubble Cars' W55023. Chris McKee.

121 DMU

W56283 - one of the Class 121 unpowered trailer cars that were used with the Bubble Cars to provide extra capacity - seen at the back of Southall shed, circa 1983. Chris McKee.

128 DMU

W55991 - one of the two Class 128 self-powered parcels vans that were based at Southall - seen here passing through Southall station with a Class 121 'Bubble Car' in tow. Taken with a Soviet made Zenith TTL SLR. Chris McKee.

108 DMU

A Class 108 DMU waiting for its next turn at Windermere station. One of the ubiquitous Class 108 units is seen here at Windermere station, awaiting a return to Oxenholme. Taken with my basic Kodak Brownie using 120 roll film. Chris McKee.

104 DMU

Class 104 BRC&W 9-car unit (set BN457 closest) at Morecambe station on an excursion. A really smart looking Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Class 104 set at Morecambe station. Note the white cab roof - these were painted specially by the crews at Buxton shed and added a nice touch to these workaday DMUs. We had arrived on the unit on an excursion, to visit a British Rail exhibition at the station, which included visitng LNER steam locos - A4 Pacific 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley and V2 4771 Green Arrow. Taken with my basic Kodak Brownie using 120 roll film. Chris McKee.

108 DMU

A Class 108 2-car DMU seen at Oxenholme with a Windermere service in August 1973. A classic branch line working for one of the reliable Derby built Class 108 DMUs, seen at Oxenholme station - we took this train to Windermere. Taken with my basic Kodak Brownie using 120 roll film. Chris McKee.

101 DMU

Scottish Region Metro Cammell DMU (set 237) at Dundee station. Whilst based in Montrose on holiday, the young photographer managed to visit Aberdeen, Dundee, Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh Haymarket. A 6-car DMU is seen in one of the bay platforms at Dundee, headed by a 3-car Metro Cammell unit. Interestingly, the Dundee-Edinburgh trains reverted to loco haulage in the 1980s - many a fine ride behind steam heat 'Tip Tops' (Class 27s) was to be had until 1986. Taken with my basic Kodak Instamatic using 126 cartridge film. Chris McKee.

119 DMU

51106 (P587) waits for departure at Okehampton station circa 1971/2. P587 transferred to Devon in 1971 and Okehampton station closed in 1972, although it is soon to reopen. The driver looks out of the window at the poster board stripped of posters and the smashed windows on the platform and the secondman reads his paper, whilst waiting for the 'right-away'. The destination blind is showing the bottom half of Lawrence Hill and the top half of Maiden Newton, reflective of the fact it had recently transferred from Bristol. Collection of Greg Scott.
