Class 122 M55006 High Wycombe 29 Jun 1986. Boy was it hot that day! HRT ran the Thame Phoenix hourly from High Wycombe to Thame and return. Alistair Ness.

Class 115 & LT A60 Chalfont and Latimer 29 June 1986. Two 4-car Marylebone Derby sets rush through heading for Aylesbury while an LT A60 (I think) waits for custom, i.e. us heading up the branch to Chesham. Alistair Ness.
DMU Variety Glengarnock 25 Aug 1986. By this time it was a case of anything goes! Never before (or after) have I seen such a varied lash-up. Heading towards Glasgow are a class 120 Swindon cross-country (I think) in blue/grey, a class 101 Met Cam centre car in SPT orange, a class 105 Cravens in BR blue, then the leading car of the next set (closest) is a class 108 in blue/grey. Alistair Ness.

Classes 150 & 101 Edinburgh Waverley 25 Aug 1985. Modern Image 1980s style. The then new class 150 001 was trialled around the Edinburgh area that summer. Here the old and the new sit across from each other at platforms 17 & 18 at Edinburgh Waverley. Alistair Ness.
Class 122 Kingsknowe May 1984. A bubble on the level. Alistair Ness.
Class 101 Kingsknowe May 1984. A Glasgow Central to Edinburgh train arrives from the west. This was Edinburgh's only proper style road level crossing - the one at South Leith has a strange arrangement of gates and the one at Duddingston & Craigmillar went in the 60s when the freight line to St Leonard's closed. Sadly the box and traditional level crossing gates at Kingsknowe had had gone by the early 80s. Alistair Ness.
Class 107 Slateford Road May 1984. This was the view looking north from my fourth floor living room window overlooking the Haymarket to Slateford section of line as well as the Caledonian Brewery which is still open today and makes a lovely pint of Deuchars IPA. Here an Ayr Derby heads for Edinburgh Waverley with a train from Glasgow Central. Alistair Ness.
Class 104 Edinburgh Waverley June 1984. A BRCW DMU awaits departure. Haymarket depot was unique in having some of their older stock of Cravens and BRCW units repainted from Rail Blue into Blue and Grey as they kept them in service for much longer than other parts of the country. Many of these areas had reverted to loco hauled stock and at least our Dundee workings retained locos and coaches. Alistair Ness.
Class 108 Wrexham Central, 10th March 1984. I have no recollection of taking this, or when, or why I was in Wrexham in 1984! Alistair Ness.
