An unidentified 2-car Class 101 set is seen stabled between duties in sidings beyond Fawcett Street Junction, south of Sunderland station, on 26/11/1983. Looking east at Haymarket depot Edinburgh Castle is seen on the horizon but there were much more interesting attractions for me. 3-car DMU set 101306 with its tail lamps glowing brightly in the dim afternoon light accompanies withdrawn 40162, stored unserviceable 20080 and 08764. 17th December 1983. On 30 December 1983 I travelled on the "West Midlands Roundabout No 2" railtour. This started at Birmingham New Street and visited Drakelow, Burton, Lichfield, Bescot, Bushbury, the Oxley curve, Kidderminster and Worcester SH before returning to New Street. This is the tour train during a short break at Burton. The set visible is 53323 + 59129 + 53307. Lewis Bevan.
