A Derby Rolls-Royce suburban set, stabled at Broxbourne which is between Cheshunt and Roydon on the West Anglia main line. DMS E51004 is closest in unlined green livery with Liverpool Street on the destination blind. Graham Clark.
Taken around 1978-79, exact date unknown. Stored at Whitemoor Marshalling yard. Robert White.
A London Midland Region publicity image (negative DM4471) showing a new Rolls-Royce powered Derby suburban triple DMU (later known as a Class 125) at Derby C&W Works on 7 April 1959. DMBS E51170 is closest, presumably with E59465 and E51004. British Railways.
Two Class 125 DMUs passing Enfield Chase on a King's Cross - Welwyn Garden City service, 05/76. One set is noted as 51155 + 59450 + 51004. Hugh Llewelyn.
A number of Class 125 DMU vehicles in March yard on 22 June 1978. These had been withdrawn from Finsbury Park (FP) depot a few months earlier, presumably following the electrification of the suburban lines out of Kings Cross, and the introduction of new Class 313 emus. The vehicles pictured were scrapped at Doncaster Works, Booths (Rotherham) or Birds (Long Marston). I think some of these vehicles were at March for a few years, as I saw a report that 5 of the driving trailers present (51001/51004/51006/51163/51169/51173) were in Doncaster Works awaiting scrapping in March 1981. A full list of the other stock present was: 50991/50994/50995/51155/51160 (all five seen or just seen in the image), 59449/59454/59457/59458/59459/59461/59463/59465/59467/59468. 59468 is nearest the camera in my photo. This had been new, from Derby Works in September 1959 and was withdrawn (from FP) in January 1977. 59468 was scrapped at Booths. Lewis Bevan.
