Class 120 set C506 (50715 + 59588 + 50665) set is seen at Nantgarw Coking Ovens on the Railway Corrspondence and Travel Society (RCTS) "Midland Welshman No. 2" railtour from Cardiff to various branch lines on May 13, 1978. Jeremy Chapter.
This is the RCTS "Midland Welshman No 2" railtour at Porth on 13 May 1978. These Swindon-built cross-country units were very comfortable and sought after for railtours where higher capacity was not needed. Car W50715 is nearest the camera, the other vehicles are W59588 + W50665. Jeremy Chapter.

A Swindon Class 120 three-car 'Cross-Country' DMU formed of cars W51588, W59588 & W51579 (558), was down to walking pace as it was climbing the Lickey Incline with a Worcester to Birmingham New Street service on September 5th 1981. At the time, the set was allocated to Cardiff Canton, but in the following year, 1982, the set was transferred to the North West operating from Newton Heath Depot. Martyn Hilbert.
