In smart 'refurbished' livery a class 101 unit slows for the Markinch stop on 2L44 1425 Edinburgh to Dundee causing a temporary halt to the shunting activities of Barclay class 06 06008. Note the departmental ex-BR 5 plank runner wagon used for track circuit activation on the main line, an 'upgrade' from the previous ex-LNER 6 plank used for the same purpose. Behind the unit can be seen a GEC General signals lorry, whose crew are no doubt readying the anonymous brick relay box in preparation for the resignalling which took place a couple of months later. 3rd April 1980.
