A four-car Class 101 at Percy Main, North Tyneside, on 17/05/1977. With the camera pointing west / inland, evidently rather close to the sun, the DMU is working in a clockwise direction around the North Tyneside loop, now heading back towards Newcastle. Beyond the station, the tracks branching off to the left are the Riverside Branch, which closed to passenger traffic in 1973, but diminishing parts of it remained open to freight until 1988. The tracks going off to the right lead to the Blyth & Tyne network.
