On the bright morning of May 1st 1986, A Class 104 Three-Car DMU (Buxton set BX482) with 53507 leading, was stood on the up fast at Leyland with a Blackpool North to Manchester Victoria Service. This was a familiar time-honoured scene, the class 104's dominating these services during the 1970's & early 1980's, until ousted by Class 120 Cross-Country units for a short time, prior to the arrival of new Class 150/2 Sprinter Units in 1987/88. Note the unusual application of yellow around the destination blind.
