With the now-demolished toffee factory on Virginia Street as a backdrop and with almost new Class 507's stabled in the sidings, a six-car Class 104 DMU with DMBS M50451 leading, was approaching journeys end at Southport with an evening service from Manchester Victoria on July 5th 1980.
