A class 116 set approaches Farringdon, ECS to Moorgate, to return as a peak-hour working up the Midland Main Line to either St Albans or Luton, 19 August 1976. Cricklewood had a few of class 116 for working the widened lines and Barking services and were probably the only Cricklewood units tripcock fitted. An additional DMS is tacked on, the additional power being useful in tackling the short, sharp gradients.
