The branch from Luton to Dunstable was included in the itinerary of Hertfordshire Railtour's 'Chiltern Chariot' railtour on 17 January 1987. The journey began and ended at Marylebone, taking in such delights as Wembley, Kensington, Bedford and Aylesbury. The two class 115 DMUs are seen by Dunstable Park, the far end presumably at Dog Kennel Walk bridge as the train was prevented from getting to the very end of the line. At this time, cement and oil traffic still ran, this being the first passenger working since 1965. This section now forms part of the busway route to Houghton Regis.
