This badly composed original slide - perhaps rushed due to the photographer realising its rarity - shows the unusual sight of a Class 114 DMU at Durham, apparently heading north towards Newcastle on the early evening of Sunday 26/10/1976. The destination shows Darlington, which is perhaps the nearest available name available on its blind.
