A Class 104 DMU set at Southport on 18/02/85. Before the route became "modernised" with class 142 Pacer railcars services on the Manchester to Southport line were invariably in the hands of 2 and 3-car class 104 DMU sets based at Newton Heath. Here a 2-car set sits filling the station with fumes prior to departure with train 2J18 the 14.10 to Manchester Victoria.
