A four-car Class 108 DMU is seen at Walker on the Riverside Branch in North Tyneside, calling with 1632 Newcastle-Longbenton via Riverside on Wednesday 09/09/1970. The second vehicle is a Class 104 TBS. The Riverside Branch was in fact a loop off the southern section of the North Tyneside loop, between Manors and Percy Main, following the banks of the Tyne more closely. After nationalisation, there were only services at peak times, and passenger services ceased on 23/07/1973. The route remained open to freight, closing in sections, with the last section finally going in 1988.
