Over the Easter weekend of 1986 (28th-31st March) Norwich station was closed for track remodelling and electrification work this saw the unusual re-opening of Trowse station as an interchange and bus transfer point for passengers destined for Norwich. The station at Trowse was an early closure having lost its passenger service on 05/09/1939. The fact the platform remained largely intact allowed it to be fettled up with a gravel surface and signage for services over the four day re-opening. On 31/03/86 Class 105 DMU set 42 (51272+54443) is at the front of 2B29 the 12.19 from Lowestoft to Trowse having disgorged its passengers onto the island platform at Trowse. The crew have changed ends in readiness to work 2B16 the 13.42 back to Lowestoft while intending passengers join the 12.48 Great Yarmouth to London Liverpool Street both trains would have arrived via the Wensum curve avoiding Norwich.
