Blackburn is a station that has changed beyond all recognition at platform level since this image on 22/08/85 showing a trio of Calder Valley class 110 power twin DMU's are seen arriving with train 1E11 the 13.05 Preston to Leeds. The one time grand 1888 built L&YR (Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway) station with its twin span trainshed roof and large yellow brick buildings was all swept away in 2000 when a new more modern station replaced it. The original frontage at street level survived in part being grade II listed but everything seen here was removed.
