A Class 110 DMU sits at Manchester Victoria waiting to work the 14.55 to York via Todmorden on 3 October 1985. These powerful DMU's fitted with 180hp Rolls Royce engines were synonymous with the Calder Valley route via Todmorden and the class were known as "Calder Valley sets" for many years. They had spent most of their working lives allocated to Brardford Hammerton Street Depot for use on the route between York, Leeds, Bradford and Manchester but when the shed closed in 1984 the Calder Valley sets all transferred to Neville Hill Depot in Leeds. On the right in one of the station sidings is brand new Railbus set 142 006 only a couple of weeks old in Manchester PTE livery. Sadly in this case the new Pacer train wasn't in any way a match for what it replaced.
