A trio of Heaton based class 101 2-car DMU's are seen at Stanhope Excursion station on the then freight only Weardale line from Bishop Auckland to Eastgate Cement Works with the 'Wear & Wensley Dalesman' on 19/10/85. This Hertfordshire railtour had started from London Kings Cross with 31 447 and 31 448 to Darlington where tour passengers swapped to the DMU formation for traversal of the two lengthy freight lines to Eastgate in Weardale and Redmire in Wensleydale.
