A minor drama. I had just boarded this train at Highbury and Islington in 1985, when there was a very loud bang and smoke billowed from the underside of the coach - note the cloud out of the left side windows. The passenger in the vestibule was seeing what was going on. Amazingly, after a quick investigation, we carried on towards Stratford! These days, de-training, fire brigade attendance and station evacuation would be the minimum to be expected! This was a Cravens DMBS, the front seats have been recovered in Trojan moquette, but the centre saloon is in a gold / black square pattern.
