Barrow in Furness station on 3 September 1975. In the grey morning light, where I had just been decanted from the overnight train from Euston - an LMS design 12-wheel sleeper - hunted abominably on long welded rail, but rode beautifully once we'd turned off the West Coast Main Line on to jointed track at Carnforth. Cravens diesel multiple unit M50766 awaits departure at 7.10 for Preston, partnered with a Class 108 vehicle.
